Hypnotizing beauties Ugnė Sabalytė and Amalie Loendal tear it up in some very creative denim ensembles, created by Stylist Waina Chancy for our latest editorial ‘Still Torn Up About It’. The story is a smokin’ combination of classic and edgy. That balance can be very hard to strike, but the lens master, Tawfick Espriella, managed to manifest quite an visually pleasing reality! The clean studio environment is a flattering palette for these two youthful beauties to shine. Their warm skin glows against the bright white and brilliant blues. Makeup artist Lauren Massaro worked with the girls to craft care free grooming that communicates ‘natural stunner’ with effortless purity! The Libertine has the pleasure of releasing this fierce series as one of the last few in our fabulous Fall Flight series. The story was both shot on film and captured digitally, and thus, will be releases in a two part series. Distinct and ingenius, both…Enjoy!

 ensembles. ‘In The Cut’ features grooming adaptations by editorial artist Serena Congiu. The combination of sharp contrasts, low maintenance beauty and alluring active wear, produce a pure fluidity of motion throughout the images. Stefano, assisted by Pietro Frizzi, intimated with beautiful proclivity for sensual portraits, the mercurial nature of the female muse in her relation to inspiring the artist. It is an honor to introduce a striking new editorial by renowned photographer Anna Daki. The story ‘Shape’ presents a clean, modern innovation in studio photography; that elegantly showcases the shifting architecture and  soft geography of the human body. Photographer Evgeniya Boyarskaya returns to The Libertine with  ’Broke Down Palace’; a gorgeous new exclusive, to kick off our Spring Fling series! As a 2nd time guest to our zine, Evgeniya has formulated a transcendent new shoot with wispy eastern stunner, Evgeniya Sizanyuk. The pair took to Paris, haunting the skeletons of historical edifices and the deserted  grounds, sprawling out from them in every direction. The result, is an elegant series of subtle sophistocation and intrigue.  Enjoy!

Interview with the Artist

Where is your home?

I live in Moscow. It’s very much like NY; a good balance of living and working.

How did you get into photography?

It wasn’t my dream originally. I got in to it by chance. At the beginning of my exploration, I didn’t really like the results. Things have come so far, that these days, I’m content and focused on creating every picture.

Did you go to school to study photography?

I didn’t attend a speciallty school; however, school is where I learned how to use a camera. Later in life, my husband taught me bout using studio lighting.

What are some other hobbies?

Currently, I am studying art history. I find it extremely interesting. The education includes much more than the history of arts only, it is really one history of the world. Recently, I’ve become fond of weight lifting!!! Besides being good for muscles and overall health, it makes my long trips with heavy photo equipment bags easier.

How long have you been a photographer?

4 years..

How would you describe your style?

My background has been mostly taking beauty portraiture. I work almost exclusively in studios, and I like to feature porcelain, shining skin. Some of my new fashion work displays another style; in new work, I like to show not only a beautiful model, but a beautiful landscape too.

What type of cameras do you shoot with?

It is always Nikon for me. I used to shoot on a D40, with a d90 for practicing and studying the artistry. For a long time after that, I worked with a d700. These days, I pack a Df and Nikon D700. It is always digital cameras for me…I don`t like to work with film (although, I do like how it looks).

If you had to choose one lens which one would it be and why?

50mm (it can do everything) but I like 105mm too!!

A favorite website and/or blog you visit often?

Etoday.ru is for my breakfast ritual, like newspaper, but about fashion shoots. I read Style.com and frequently turn to Google!

Dream person/thing to photograph?

My husband. But it’s an unrealistic aspiration. He doesn’t like having his photo taken and he never has, ha. So, if I can’t shoot my husband, I would settle for Leonardo DiCaprio.

What are you still learning?

Everything.

Where you’ll find me on a Friday night at 9 p.m…

So many different variations and possibilities…a bar, chill-out or another meeting spot…however, I think at home entertaining friends is the most likely.

Very strange, very-very strange.

The Libertine welcomes fabulous first time contributor Nick Sushkevich. Nick, who has worked in fashion for years (most notably for Ulyana Sergeenko) has created an incredible studio editorial to feature the dramatic attributes of young siren, Liza Sotnikova. The series contains so many striking and memorable images, that the Libertine will be releasing it in two parts for our Spring Fling series! With the second half of this story, there will be an accompanying interview with the photographer himself; regarding the journey of his career into fashion photography, as well as updates on some of the exciting opportunities on his horizon. Part one of ‘Mighty Aphrodite’ captures the smoldering sensuality of  our whimsical muse, with simplistic styling and lavish embellishments. This collection is one of our personal favorites of the season…hence why we are dedicating two features to it! The dynamic Voguesque perfection of the images is virtually overwhelming. Artist Interview

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I (photographer Nick Sushkevich) was born in Omsk, a major defense industry center during the Soviet Era. I studied computer science and Commercial Law. During those years I was interested in computer graphics an 3D. In the late 90′s I was hired to a professional advertising and design studio in my hometown. It was great learning stuff and connecting with folks from around the globe. I even tried myself as a school teacher for CGI classes! Then in 2006 I moved to Moscow where I was doing photography in my free time. In 2010, with the help of my friend Lev Efimov, I met Ulyana Sergeenko who was pursuing her photographer career and assembling her team; I start as a retoucher there…and here I am now.

Where is home?

Anywhere I rent an apartment.

Did you go to school to study photography?

No, never. Unfortunately there wasn’t, and still isn’t, any school to study photography in Russia.

How long have you been a photographer?

Professionally – about 7 years.

How would you describe your style?

I can’t describe my work as having a certain style…it’s just the way I like to shoot. I choose the easiest ways of lighting the scene; so perhaps you could define it as a lazy style photography!

What type of cameras do you shoot with?

Mostly I use digital cameras. Sometimes I take pictures with film and instant cameras.

If you had to choose one lens which one would it be and why?

If I had to chose one lens, I’d prefer 35mm because it’s a pretty useful wide angle lens and I can crop the frame later to highlight the main object.

I’ve learned the most from…

Practice.

What are you still learning?

Lighting.

Your favorite film (movie) of all time?

I guess, “Traffic” or “Silence of the lambs”.

And the last question: If you had one wish, what would it be?!

She enjoys a late afternoon stroll around sprawling country grounds; lingering occasionally to ‘smell the roses’. Each and every depiction of the enchantress, radiates cool class, underlined by modern style. Lise’s flawless look was created by beauty guru, Ilaria Borgioli to enhance the naturally striking nature of her unusual beauty. The entire team contributed grade A artistry, and The Libertine couldn’t be happier than to include the unforgettable story in our latest collection. Enjoy!    

The Libertine has the tremendous pleasure of collaborating again with master photographer, Adolfo Valente on a new sensual masterpiece entitled ‘Comely, Tender’. The glowing and ethereal editorial depicts delicate Italian beauty, Daiana Di Finizio in the sweet bloom of life. Hazy, shadowed rooms and golden morning rays cast intrigue and subtle dreaminess to the portraiture. Her gaze echos throughout the series and lingers with you after. Reminiscent of the iconic beauty of Ali MacGraw, Daiana is purely enchanting. This is another memorable series, and a perfect compliment to our already heavy-hitting Fall Flight series!

This exquisite editorial, ‘Forgotten Ancestors’, was composed exclusively for The Libertine, as a collaboration between visionary photographer Dusan Jaukovic and couture designer Jelena Malesevic (for her personal line: Morfium Couture). The shots are purely transcendental, and model Li Xiao Xing becomes every bit the beautiful embodiment of the designs. Bold and alluring designs complement Li’s finely sculpted features and the natural beauty of one of the longest enduring sanctuaries inhabited by the Lenape people before colonization. There is a subtle mysticism to the surroundings, that is echoed in both Jelena’s creations and Li’s powerful aura. Though this story is both light and fresh, reminiscent of the longer days of summer, it felt like a perfect balancing element for our fall flight series. Not to mention, that the images are breath-taking. Enjoy!
